Candidates FAQs

FAQs

As a people first business, we’re committed to ensuring all candidates are supported and have a fair opportunity to perform at their best throughout our selection process.

If at any point you require support to perform at your full potential, please email us at: [email protected] for a confidential discussion with our friendly team.

Our roles typically open in the autumn of the year prior to the starting intake. Deadlines for individual roles can be found on the job profile. Generally, we tend to close Graduate, Intern and Placement opportunities around mid-November. For apprentices this is typically January / February.

We recommend that you apply as early as possible as we reserve the right to close roles when the particular role and / or location has had enough applicants.

If you are not successful in your application this time, then you are welcome to reapply after 6 months. Please note, any reapplications within this 6-month timeframe will be regretted.

We encourage you to apply to only one opening that best suits your interests. You will be able to discuss alternative options with our recruiters once you have progressed through the screening stage.

If you apply to more than one role, your application will only be taken forward for the first role you have applied for. If you have submitted an application in error and would like to be considered for a different role, then please email the team on [email protected] with the role you would like to be considered for and we can amend your application for you.

We aim to get back to all candidates within 5 working days of their application, however this can sometimes be longer for popular programmes. All candidates will hear back from their application regardless of if being progressed to the next stage or not. We recommend checking your spam and junk folders for any updates from our application system as sometimes emails can be captured in these folders.

If you haven’t heard anything by 10 weeks of submission, then please email the team for an update; [email protected].

You can apply for our opportunities through our programme pages, or the search box at the top of the main landing page. Type in your search term, i.e. Graduate, to see all the relevant opportunities. You can then further refine your search by location in the drop-down menu or use the map to narrow down your search.

Undergraduates & Graduates: You should be on target for a 2:2 degree.

This should also be underpinned by strong A-Level results as well as Maths and English at GSCE. Please check the relevant advert for further information.

Apprentices: Please check the advertisement for the apprenticeship that interests you, which will include the relevant qualification information.

All applications are screened by our Early Careers team who look for a match in your application against the requirements mentioned in the job profile. Make sure that you consider the degree requirements as many of our roles do require specific degree backgrounds as they are very technical or have these requirements for chartership.

If you are successful following the selection process a member of the team will be in contact to discuss our offer and once you have verbally accepted, an email will be sent from our HR department with a link where you can access the offer paperwork

We support accreditations with a number of professional bodies including RICS, ICE, IMechE, RIBA, CIEEM and CIBSE.

No, our Graduate programme is not rotational. You will join a team and a specific role from day one. Your experiences will come from working on different projects and with different clients.

Whether you join as a Graduate, Apprentice, Intern or Placement student, you will be supported by your line manager as well as a buddy when you join. For your Programme, our dedicated Early Careers team will support you with the business acumen and soft skill training and there are communities with Heads of Service to support your technical training and professional accreditations.

What is the application and assessment process?

01: Application and CV Submission

Review the opportunities open and decide which is the best fit for you based on your skills, aspirations and educational background.

You should apply for your chosen role and submit your CV online. You will be asked a number of preference questions, including office location and when you would be available to start.

02: Online Behavioural Assessment

We assess a candidate’s skills and behaviours in a behaviour based virtual assessment. If you meet the requirements for your chosen role, you will be invited to complete the online assessment.  We use this type of assessment to ensure we are identifying the right talent in an objective way, where no-one is at a disadvantage.

Complete a demo of the assessment here: Arctic Shores – Demo Task

03: Virtual Assessment Centre

(work placement and internship applicants will skip this stage and go straight to an interview)

Our trained Assessors and Recruitment team will ensure the experience is as pleasant as possible during your virtual assessment.

Assessments consist of a networking opportunity and a group activity.: lasting just over 2 hours. This assesses your skills and suitability for the role you have applied for.

04: Face to Face Interview

Held in person at an Arcadis office, the final interview is made up of two parts;

The first part of the interview assesses your skills, behaviours, and suitability for your chosen position. The second part of the interview focuses on your technical knowledge and skills suitable for the role.

If you are successful following the selection process a member of the team will be in contact to discuss our offer. Following the call, your contract will be issued via your application portal where you can log in to view the contract and associated documentation as well as let us know your final decision!
